About a month ago I found an ad in the Financial Times aimed at former brokers, presumably now wannabe writers. Unstylish but conveniently located next to the “Best Books of 2008”, I found it ackward that a “best-selling author who has published more than 20 best-sellers” would offer his services in such a way. Yes, for a mere 10.000 GBP even you can get into the secretive world of publishing.
Reading the ad, I could hardly contain my laughter. But I can see why a former City banker wants to be a fiction writer: jotting down the daily accounting of most big banks will definitely add a touch of surrealism to every man’s story. Of course, nothing is guaranteed.
